The USA will stop funding the multibillion-dollar US-European missile defence programme known as MEADS after fiscal year 2013, calling it unaffordable in the current budget climate.rnThe DoD has decided to continue the design and development (D&D) phase of the programme under the current MoU, but after schedule and cost overruns, the US can no longer afford to fund production of the system, according to a 11 February Pentagon fact sheet on the programme.
