摘要

The effective application of C4ISR is critical to the success of the four fundamental stages of battle: first is target identification and acquisition; second is the battle plan; third is selection and firing of weapons, and, the fourth is post-strike damage assessment. Within these parameters is are key junctures where appropriately deployed sensors and linked computers are vital to each stage, as well as the final outcome. Here, EO is a key enabler, either as a stand-alone sensor technology or working in conjunction with other sensor types, such as radar and laser-based applications.
