The 8th LAAD Defence & Security 2011 in Barra da Tijuca (Rio de Janeiro) represents South America's leading discussion forum and trade show for new technologies in the defence sector. This year, it featured some 47,000sqm of exhibition and networking space. More than 450 exhibitors from 35 countries were showcasing their latest in defence and security technologies. Besides Brazilian DefMin Nelson Jobim and the commanders of the three military services of the Brazilian Armed Forces, numerous state secretaries of public security from across Brazil and 55 official delegations from the Armed Forces of Latin America and other continents took part in the event.
