摘要

The unification was a reflection of strong bonds between the people of the UAE and the result of great efforts made by Sheikh Zayed, the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates. Following unification, the UAE's leaders devoted much attention to the building up the country's defensive capability through the establishment of military training institutions and the procurement of the latest military equipment making the UAE Armed Forces one of the most advanced in the world. rnSpeaking on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the unification of the UAE Armed Forces and on the UAE 37th National Day on 2 December 2008 were Khalifa bin-Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan (Sheikh Khalifa), the current President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi; Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum (Sheikh Mohammed), Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and Lieutenant General Hamad Mohammad Thani al-Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces.
