Major General Tim Mcowan talks about some of the achievements of the Special Operations Task Group (SOTG) who have been operating in southern Afghanistan for the past two years. These men continue to operate in extreme clanger and in an extremely demanding physical environment, and they continue to deliver the results expected of them. In fact, they frequently deliver results well beyond that expected of them. rnNeedless to say I am extremely proud of them and I am pleased that some of their excellent work can be acknowledged. We must balance against the need to keep our soldiers safe and the importance of ensuring that the operational information we release cannot be used to harm our people or prevent us from achieving our mission. Operational security is a much used term - for us it very real and can mean the difference between keeping our soldiers safe and allowing them to return home to their families or otherwise.
