摘要

The Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia - collectively known as the Visegrad Four (V4) - each view the issues of burden sharing and defence spending very differently. According to data from the Czech MoD, defence expenditure in 2018 was CZK58.9 billion (€2.3 billion), an increase of 12% compared with 2017 and equating to 1.13% of GDP. The relevant numbers for 2019 are CZK66.7 billion (1.19%) and for 2020 CZK75.5 billion (1.3%). Prague anticipates achieving an objective of 1.4% by 2021 and 2% by 2024 -the equivalent of CZK127 billion. That last objective was enshrined in the 2019 strategic document 'Long Term Perspective for Defence 2035.'
