MILTECH has recently reported from 2019 DSEI, 2019 AUSA and other defence conferences, that the US Defense Department and indeed, military organizations in some US allied nations, are increasing their investments in programs designed to win peer- and near-peer military operations. While the services' primary focus is on increasing their heavy firepower and raw lethality across the warfighting domains, the US military continues to face operations in the "gray zone" - below the threshold of conventional armed conflict. This reality provides the increasing need for non-lethal options.
