In conclusion, although financial allocations for military space in general and the SSF in particular are not known, it can be assumed that China allocates substantial sums to support of both. President Xi and the Chinese Communist Party perceive outer space as a special domain, in which China has to excel in order to defeat its competitors. The fact the SSF reports directly to the CMS, and its support to the PLA at large, underscores an important role entrusted to a new force. A clear link can be traced between the SSF, the EDD and its current commander's former role at XSLC, again emphasising the importance of BEIDOU for China in general and the PLA in particular.
