Alan Hoe's epic work on the life of Richard (Dick) Meadows reveals never-before-told details of the elusive Special Force's most renowned missions as told by Meadows and other participants. Hoe's diligent research opens in rugged West Virginia, where the hard life of young Meadows leads to his enlistment into the Army at age 15 and distinguishes him as the youngest-ever Master Sergeant during the Korean War. His legendary career is marked by astonishing acts of heroism while forming the origins of Special Forces, conducting MACV-SOG clandestine border crossings deep into enemy territory in Laos and Cambodia during the Viet Nam War, and being the first boots on the ground during the infamous Son Tau raid to free America's POWs. He is in on the ground floor of the Delta Force and essential in the execution of the Iranian hostage crisis rescue attempt.
