Johne's disease is an unrecognised problem in many herds but, where it is present, it results in yield losses, infertility, raised somatic cell counts and premature culling. Often, though, these are not attributed to Johne's, which tends to be a hidden disease.The Johne's Action Group was set up three years ago in order to raise awareness amongst farmers of this disease, and to encourage the sharing of good practices in respect of tackling it.
