摘要

Roger Evans looks back over the events that have helped shaped Westbury, and ponders what the future might hold for the dairy. Today we consider Westbury. To begin with, and before Westbury itself was even begun, I well remember a colleague saying that no one should build it there. What he meant was that there was no point in building the most efficient drier in Europe, if the milk that was to go there is a day's journey away. Transport costs negate a lot of that efficiency and I know that milk is 'dominoed' down the country, but it would have been better situated in a large milk field, probably in the North West. But it was obviously built, and a great comfort it is too.
