I was amused recently by the European Parliament's treatment of the proposed Food Information for Consumers Regulation. The Parliament's Environment Committee made 275 amendments to the draft offered up by the European Commission. Amongst the things they rejected were the use of nutritional profiles for health claims, and of course traffic lights.rnI had no problem with either of those, but expected that the Commission would be a little upset. In fact, the Commission official I spoke to expressed relief that there had not been more amendments.
