The European Commission has announced its intention, in future, to adopt 'Better Regulation'. This is a laudable objective, but one which so far has proved almost impossible to achieve. We are familiar with dairy hygiene legislation; this is important in ensuring that dairy products are safe, and as a consequence, can move freely within the internal market of the European Union. It is also used to ensure fair practices are being observed and adhered to.
