The environment has never been in sharper focus for the dairy sector. A plethora of regulations, introduced in the last few years, together with longer term emissions reduction targets, mean that no one can afford to ignore the drive to reduce carbon footprints. Between 2004 and 2007, Arla Foods reduced its total energy usage by 29% and the company believes firmly that first class environmental performance is a pre-requisite for a successful and sustainable business and is one of the key drivers for continued growth and business effectiveness. This significant saving in total energy usage is a result of an environmental strategy that lives and breathes at every level of the dairy supply chain with Arla Foods engaging its employees and managing the usage of energy effectively.
