Rising at 2.30am, out in all weathers and fierce competition from supermarkets all go with the territory for Britain's independent milk roundsmen. Michael Finch talks to David Camp and finds out how his family has delivered doorstep milk for around 100 years in Essex. They are the unsung heroes of the milk delivery system in Britain. They rise at what to most people are unearthly hours and provide a service that once the norm, is now less common. We're talking of course about the independent doorstep delivery service, once the backbone of liquid milk distribution in Britain. Many have been established for at least 40 or 50 years, running businesses they started themselves. For others, it is a family affair that has stretched back for generations.
