Midlands Co-op is investing in two new Tetra Brik TB/19 packaging machines (right) for school milk, at its production site in Birmingham. These replace TB/9 machines, marking the end of an era for this equipment, stretching back almost 20 years. The new modern, higher speed machines, which will be installed during July and August to coincide with school summer holidays, will offer faster filling times and even greater reliability. Chris Cherrington of Midlands Co-op said: "These two new lines are going to offer us production speeds of 15,000 units per hour, which is an increase of 5,000 on our current machines. Installation during the holidays means that we will be fully operational when schools return in September."
