FEMINUST STUDIES of science now constitute a flourishing academic industry, drawing sustenance from many sources. These include: critical theory, "cultural studies", and history, philosophy and sociology of science in their now fashionable "social constructi- vist" mode. The results are propagated through departments, "schools" and "institutes" of women's studies in universities and colleges throughout North America and elsewhere. They are universally critical of "modern science". There is a certain irony in this.
