James Hunt was not a typical teenager. "When I was about 13 or 14 I bought an S-reg Mini and that started me off restoring them from there." Even at that early age he took on two rebuild projects: one for himself and one for a friend. He recalls that he was welding by the age of 14. "I'm self-taught. I got a welder. I got a grinder and went from there. I just worked it out, although it probably wouldn't have been very good welding if I was able to look back," he laughs. "My mum and dad had a little single garage at the bottom of the garden and I'd spend all the summer holidays in there just playing with cars and painting them.'
