The Italian Job charity touring event has run since 1990 and is the brainchild of Giulia St George and her son Freddie. Its aim is to have fun in cars that featured in the 1969 film (mainly Minis) while raising money for The Variety Club to help disadvantaged children. The route took the service van and many of the teams across Europe via Luxembourg and Switzerland, south through Italy to the start, in Rome. Gareth Davies and Paul Cooper crewed the van this year and it was laden with goodies from Mini Spares. On Thursday, 29 November, the teams, organisers and police gathered at Piazza Garibaldi in Rome and the 2015 Italian Job was soon underway. The convoy took in all the main sights of the city. Crowds waved as we passed the Vatican, Coliseum, Forum and then on to the Crowne Plaza Hotel, our base for the next four nights. Cars were scrutineered, ready for the timed trials, and given their team number.
