The Storm ignition ECU waves goodbye to the complete distributor system, offering zero-wear parts and laptop-mappable ignition advance curves instead. It's the basis of a newly-developed distributor-less ignition kit for all carb'd A-series engines from the clever chaps at Specialist Components, masters of 16-valve bike cylinder head conversions. Aftermarket ignition ECU systems based on 'Megajolt' plans have been around for years but Storm has been designed and developed by SC themselves, so it's a far superior piece of kit. Simon from SC was so confident in the set-up he offered to fit one to our MiniWorld project car, Sheldon, for a thorough going over. SC now produces a similarly programmable ECU for Single Point injected Minis, as an alternative to the unmappable Rover MEMS.
