Andres Martinez is one of the Miami Mini Club dudes: they're a cheerful, sociable bunch, mostly Cubans who like to spend time sitting in cafes and bars smoking cigars, drinking beer and the occasional Cortadito (Cuban-style coffee) and talking about Minis. Andres originally bought this Mini from a doctor in Colombia in 1997, who had used it as a daily driver. It was bashed as well as rusty and in bad condition. Andres stripped it and started a major rotisserie rebuild. While the body and mechanical work was going on, he ordered a strong A-series engine from Avonbar in England, which was crated up and shipped out to him. When he finished restoring the car in 2001, he decided to import it into the USA, where he now lives.
