During its seven years of production from 1962 to 1969, the Super Deluxe model was always regarded as the posh version of the Mini. No, really. You could say Mini and Deluxe in the same sentence back then. Creature comforts, such as carpets, a remote gear change, oil pressure and water temperature gauges, as well as a larger rear window, were some of the offerings when the Mk2 emerged in October 1967, complete with a 998cc motor. The old 850cc version was truly basic by comparison. David Pyper, owner of this Mk2 Super Deluxe, started his motoring life with a £150 Clubman in 1976. He's since had a variety of Fords and Peugeots, and added a 998cc Cooper and 1275cc Cooper S when he was rallying in the late Seventies and early Eighties.
