Although the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq was launched in 2003, the effects of this conflict on the worldwide missile market continue to reverberate but have yet to be fully realized. The most notable effect has been felt within the strike/stand-off missile market segment. Long-range strike and cruise missiles were used extensively in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), as was true in previous U.S.-led military actions throughout the 1990s. Lavish use was made of the Tomahawk Block III cruise missiles by the U.S. military.
