The Baylor University Student Chapter meeting in October was held at the Film and Digital Media Division of Baylor University. The event was also video streamed live with help from the SMPTE Dallas-Ft. Worth chapter. The meeting consisted of two elements. First, a live demonstration of Organic Motion's markerless motion tracking system was held in the auditorium through a live video and audio link from Organic Motion's headquarters in New York City. Alex Czarowicz, vice president of sales for Organic Motion, was the featured speaker. Czarowicz described the evolution of motion capture imaging systems that employ computer vision technology to cognitively “see” people's complex movements and generate accurate 3D tracking data in realtime, all without body suits or external dot-type tracking devices. His portion of the program explained how realtime 3D markerless tracking technology works and illustrated this with a live, web-based demonstration of Organic Motion's Biostage technology that can integrate with other applications such as Autodesk's MotionBuilder and MotionMonitor. The audience experienced first-hand demonstrations of animation and biomechanical applications used in a variety of digital media environments, including motion pictures, video games, and sports.
