Now that the Ram has taken over as the hardest-working member of the Motor Trend long-term fleet, staffers have enjoyed the dual nature of the pickup. On the one hand, ride quality is excellent, and the team has raved about the pairing of the TorqueFlite 8 with the 5.7-liter V-8. These features make the Ram a comfortable daily driver as well as easy to live with on the weekend. Yet that doesn't take away (too much) from its work abilities. During its short tenure, the Ram has already been tasked with several jobs. So far, all the responsibilities have focused on moving heavy gear. The first job: getting a very heavy (250-pound!) tube television from its upstairs location to the donation center where it was going. The Ram couldn't help with the stairs, but the air suspension lowered the liftover height, making it easier to get the TV in the truck bed.
