At press time, 21 Japan-based automotive parts suppliers have settled price-fixing investiga-tions with U.S. authorities. A culmination of years of collaboration among American, Japanese, and European authorities has resulted in 20 U.S. subsidiaries of Japanese auto parts makers charged and pleading guilty. Twenty-one executives have also been charged, with 17 already sentenced to or agreeing to accept prison time.
