This article surveys the activities of the internationally acclaimed, budget classical recording label Naxos, from its founding in 1987 to the end of 2010. Naxos's dedication to developing a comprehensive catalog and retailing at low prices has brought the company great success not only as a record label but also as a publisher, a distributor, and an electronic-content vendor. However, Naxos caters primarily to classical music fans, not to higher education needs.
