The Invention of the jet engine was made possible through the advancement/development of a heat-resistant structural alloy during the 1930s and 1940s. Fueled by the military need for jet engines and the industry demand for gas turbines, new alloy compositions, and casting processes continued to push the temperature capability and mechanical strength of turbine blades [1], [2].
