Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Nanosheets for Sensor Platforms

In the past few years, transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) nanosheets have aroused tremendous attention within the scientific community due to a wealth of unique new physics and chemistry that emerges as its thickness goes down to single or few layer. The unusual and fascinating physicochemical properties of these TMD nanosheets make them intriguing cand-idates for use in optoelectronic devices, energy storage devices and catalysis. However, in very recent times, there was a significant emerging trend in their utilization in sensors. In this book chapter, we attach great importance to this new trend for the sensing applications, and summarize some representative works of applications of TMD nanosheets in sensing area. Current challenges and future perspectives in the sensing area are also outlined.
