The Warthog seems to have almost as many lives as a cat. The fiscal 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) signed by the president last month once again prevents the retirement of the A-10 Thunderbolt Ⅱ, affectionately called the Warthog. The Air Force has been trying for years to retire the close-air-support aircraft, saying complete divestiture would save more than $4 billion and free up maintenance personnel needed for the arrival of the F-35A Lightning Ⅱ.
