When the yellow ribbon Reintegration Program grew into a national program in 2008, it aimed to help National Guardsmen reintegrate into civilian life after a deployment. In those early years, Guardsmen and their families needed to know how to navigate the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), find a job and/or learn how to deal with a range of physiological issues that might not manifest for years, if at all.
