Fincantieri, Cantieri Navali Italiani S.p.A, the state controlled Italian naval industry complex, managed the year with an annual turnover of about ? 2.200 million. Fincantieri is the biggest Italian shipbuilding company that was founded in 1959 as a state controlled holding, belonging to the IRI-Group (Istituto per la Riconstruzione Industri-ale). Consisting of eight companies, the IRI-Group concentrates on shipbuilding, ship repairs and the construction of ship engines. In 1984 the companies and the holding were transformed into one ship building company. Today, the headquarter is in Trieste, with Chairman and CEO Corrado Antonini in charge. Fincantieri is divided into three different business units. Mega Yachts (Cruise Ships), Merchant Ships and Naval Vessels (Marine Systems). Cruise ships are built in Monfalcone/Trieste, in Marghera/Venice and in Sestri Po-nente/Genova.
