摘要

In 1989, after several decades of enslavement Poland regained sovereignty and became a democracy. NATO membership, which came 10 years later, was of breakthrough significance for our country. Accession to the organisation put a symbolic end to the decades of post-Yalta European divide. Poland, which was the first to offer armed resistance to the Third Reich, which was part of the WW Ⅱ Allied coalition, became free only 50 years after the start of the war. Independence, sovereignty and state security are superior values for Poles. Today Poland is actively operating collaborating with partners in NATO, desiring to be one of its pillars.
