"I would like to stress that DCN is no longer a naval shipyard only. We really are a company, not an administration. A company that has made an enormous effort over the last ten years to be more efficient, more competitive, to improve relations with the French Navy and other clients. We had 28,000 employees twelve years ago, today we have 12,200, have also reduced our industrial facilities by one-third and haven't closed any facilities, just parts of some. We've also rationalised our activities. For instance, our Lorient shipyard used to build frigates, repair submarines, build fibre-glass hulls, and so on, but now it only builds frigates. Today, each DCN facility is more specialised. But my main message is this: DCN has changed its legal status. Today, we are a state-owned stand-alone company. Moves are, however, under way to open up our capital, first to a minority percentage. So, we're following a course of pragmatic evolution; a careful step-by-step approach to strengthen our position for further integration at the European level. Our results show that we're on the right track."
