摘要

The governments of many Asia-Pacific countries see increasing their high-quality scientific output as essential to building an innovative, globally competitive, knowledge-based economy. And the data compiled in this 2013 Nature Publishing Index (NPI) show that the region is making progress towards this goal. An increasing number of Asia-Pacific research institutions are in the upper echelons of global contributors to the Nature journals, and authors from the region continue to increase their share of overall output (see page 10).
