Based on a bold vision of creating a world-class, interdisciplinary research university on a subtropical island 400 miles south of mainland Japan, the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) is a graduate school like no other. Set amidst coral reefs, white sand beaches and emerald seas, OIST boasts stunning vistas and a modern, vibrant campus with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities including an electron microscope suite, a DNA-sequencing centre, a supercomputing centre and spectroscopy laboratories.The new multi-use auditorium at OIST has already hosted internationally-renowned artists including I Musici as well as lectures delivered by Nobel laureates.
