Singapore has long been home to a thriving cluster of local environmental and water companies. Recognizing that local expertise and technology would be valuable to communities around the world in need of environmental and water management systems, the Singaporean government has incorporated the industry into its national growth plan. The Environment & Water Industry Programme Office (EWI) was thus established in 2006 to promote research and development in the field, grow the industry and position Singapore as a global R&D base for environment and water solutions.
