摘要

Shenzhen is one of the earliest special economic zones - and arguably the most successful one - in China. The city has attracted a great deal of investment from high-tech companies, especially those in information technology, microelectronics, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, after Deng Xiaoping made his highly publicized 'inspection tour' in January 1992. High-quality innovative research was unheard of in Shenzhen until the city published its first article in Nature in 2006.
