Imaging live cells, while not an easy task, has driven microscopy suppliers to finding unique ways to culture and maintain cells on the microscopic stage. Efforts have paid off with new findings and insight into the nature of organisms. New technologies are now finding ways to view rare events, such as the phases of mitosis, a complex and highly regulated process. Researchers at Northwestern University recently announced the ability to identify early signs of lung cancer with a process called Partial Wave Spectroscopic microscopy. Leaders in the field offer their vision of the future below.
