The Tokyo Institute of Technology's Hideo Hosono has captured international attention three times in the past 14 years: first with a transparent and flexible transistor that offered the promise of mass-production viability; next with electrically conductive cement; and most recently with an iron-based material that is superconductive at higher temperatures than most other superconductors.
