Known by several different names, including thermal cyclers and temperature cyclers, thermocyclers provide advanced features such as detecting multiple labeling dyes at each step, using software for real-time PCR applications. Improved technologies have also eliminated the need for mineral oil, enabling precise temperature control of reactions. Accessories for thermocyclers including PCR kits have also expanded to work with an increasing range of reagents.
