On May 23,2005, the World Health Assembly approved World Blood Donor Day as an annual event to recognize the desperate need for safe blood supplies worldwide. To help meet this need, new products for blood screening are designed for increased accuracy in the detection and removal of potential pathogens from donated blood. The same technologies can be applied to a wide range of applications from health monitoring of animals in the lab, to providing a rapid, accurate diagnosis for patients.
