This installment looks at equipment such as dispersion technology for particle size measurement, a homologous time-resolved assay system for drug discovery, a carbon fibre potentiostat and a robotic perfusion system. Using a Photopad scanner and UVIgel analysis software from UVItec, users can efficiently and economically analyse and document electrophoresis gels. This system allows operators to plug the Photopad into the parallel port of a computer, install the software onto the hard drive and begin without complicated set-up procedures. After the print is fed into the Photopad it appears on the computer screen, where it can be analysed by the system's UVIgel software. The software also allows the user to crop, rotate and enhance the image so that it can be printed on a laser or ink jet printer.
