After much research and development, Stratagene has released its first DNA sequencing system featuring prepoured, polyacrylamide gels. The CastAway precast sequencing gels eliminate the need to manually pour sequencing gels, significantly reducing the time involved in gel preparation. Traditional methods can take up to 2 h of preparation to clean the plates, mix the solutions, degas the acrylamide, pour the plates and wait for polymerization. The company states that CastAway gels are ready to run in less than 5 min.
