For sixty-five years we have been studying photographs of the attack on Pearl Harbor and today there still remain many unanswered questions. Questions such as: what color were the ships, and why do some of the turret tops appear to be a different color from the rest of the ship? These are just a couple of the questions to which I needed to find answers after I accepted the contract to build a new model of USS Arizona for the USS Arizona Memorial. Answers to the first question have been extremely controversial for quite some time, and this situation is likely to continue, even after reading this article. The second question will be much easier to explain and the solution probably will win easier acceptance.
