Ozkaya et al. [7] present a new policy, denoted a (Q, S, T) policy, for the stochastic joint replenishment problem. They do a thorough mathematical derivation of the cost performance of this policy, as well as an extensive numerical study. Based on this numerical study, their conclusion is that in many cases this new policy performs better than existing ones proposed for the stochastic joint replenishment problem, like the P(s,S) policy, proposed and analyzed by Viswanathan [8], and the Q(s,S) policy, proposed by Viswanathan [8], and analyzed by Nielsen and Larsen [6], Br0nmo [2] (Br0nmo's maiden name is Nielsen), Johansen and Thorstenson [3] and Larsen [5]. This letter alerts that there are numerical mistakes in Ozkaya et al. [7]. As Ozkaya et al. [7] do not state a very precise description of their algorithm and most often do not specify the computed optimal policy variables, it is somewhat hard for an outsider to replicate their numerical study, except for a few tables therein which this letter accordingly will focus on.
