The pay-television sector of the former Yugoslavia took a further step toward consolidation with this week's announcement that private-equity firm Mid Europa Partners is to buy UPC Slovenia.rnThe firm, which specializes in investments in Central and Eastern Europe, will acquire 100% of the Liberty Global-owned cable and broadband operator for €119.5 million (US$159 million) in cash.rnThe deal, which still needs to be approved by Slovenia's Competition Protection Office, will mean that two of the region's main pay-television companies will come under the same ownership and will solidify Mid Europa Partners' position as a leading player in the Balkans.
