High-definition channels account for three out of the four channels that are most recorded for later viewing on Sky Plus digital video recorders (DVRs), according to research published last week by communications regulator Ofcom.rnFifty-nine percent of viewing to the high-definition version of Sky 1 in Sky Plus homes was to recorded programs. No other channel was viewed more in recorded format than live, but recorded viewing accounted for a respective 43% and 33% of viewing in Sky Plus homes of Channel 4 HD and BBC HD (see fig. 1).rnThe data, derived from BSkyB's SkyView audience-measurement panel, were published as part of Ofcom's annual report on the UK communications market. The research also shows that a third of viewing to Five between January and May this year was recorded as was a quarter of that of Channel 4.
