Many eyes were on Spain last Sunday as its football team lifted the Euro 2008 trophy, but a more exclusive audience is now eyeing the company that had the exclusive Spanish TV rights for the championship -Sogecable. Up for grabs is Digital Plus, Sogecable's pay-televi-sion arm, which accounts for the bulk of the company's income. That Rupert Murdoch should show interest is hardly surprising, although it is significant that it is BSkyB rather than News Corporation - which has investments in Sky Italia and Germany's Premiere - that is looking at the numbers. As we report this week, political as well as commercial factors may be at play here.
