The terms under which Kangaroo, the planned UK online video service, supplies content to rivals will be fundamental to its gaining satisfactory regulatory clearance, competition lawyers said this week. The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) this week referred the Kangaroo joint venture to the Competition Commission. Kangaroo - owned by BBC Worldwide, ITV and Channel 4 - plans to create an online, and later television, on-demand service to exploit shareholders' programme archives and to provide a platform for third-party content such as films.
